The month of April is generally a time of rejoicing for anyone who is in school. April heralds Spring Break, and by extension, the end of the semester! Time to cut loose and have some fun right?! By all means, go someplace new and have a blast! Just remember – if you are planning a spring break trip to somewhere fun and exciting, packing these essential items can help make your vacation a happier and healthier time:

  1. Sunscreen – If you’re going somewhere warm, don’t forget to bring the sunscreen.Severe sunburn can sometimes even require treatment at an urgent care facility if it is bad enough. And sunburn means no more beach (or hiking or other assorted shenanigans)! You don’t want to be the one stuck inside while everyone else is having fun!
  2. Appropriate Clothes – It never hurts to pack a variety of clothing items, which can accommodate all types of events and weather. Especially if you’re going to the Gulf Coast. We natives know that our weather can go from 40 to 80 degrees in three days. You’ll need to be prepared for such freak events. We also get a lot of rain.
  3. The B4UDrink Mobile App – If you’re going to be imbibing alcohol, make sure you enjoy it responsibly with something like the B4UDrink mobile app – don’t end up in urgent care or the ER because of a DUI. And on that note, make sure that if you do decide to partake in a liquid repast, you need to have a designated driver, are within walking distance of where you’re staying, or you have cab fare handy. A ticket and/or arrest is no way to spend spring break. Don’t be that guy. That guy sucks. He’s also a danger to himself and others. Play it safe, you might save a life!
  4. Condoms – Meet someone special? There’s nothing wrong with a little casual fun on vacation; bringing condoms along can keep you healthy and out of urgent care – no STD testing for you!
  5. Water Bottle – Last but not least, bring a water bottle and refill it whenever you know you have access to safe and clean water.Remember – not all countries have reliable tap water.

Bringing these five essential items along on your spring break trip can save you a lot of time and hassle, and possibly help you avoid a visit to urgent care as well.  Remember; have fun, but stay safe!
